The International Centre, in a joint venture with Transparency International
Canada, and supported by the Canadian Bar Association and the Canadian
Centre for Foreign Policy Development (Department of Foreign Affairs and
International Trade), is hosting a two-day symposium on the OECD Convention
and Canada's legislative response. Attendees will include senior representatives
from major multinational resource-sector companies and leading law firms
of western Canada. In a meeting designed to inform and to act as a forum
for policy development, participants will hear from international experts
on corruption from North America and Europe; senior federal government
personnel; and leading private sector legal specialists. The seminar will
raise awareness about the chief legal and ethical issues of concern to
Canadian firms with overseas interests, and provide policy-makers with
a forum in which to gauge private-sector support for and expert reaction
to the proposed Canadian legislation.
