Understanding the Puzzle of Autism
I am Stephanie Welter, Mrs. Minnesota International 2017. My other titles include: wife, mom of four, radio/TV host, certified life coach, lead minister and board chair at Ministry of Reconciliation, and very proud coach to an incredible team of high school basketball players at The MAC School (Minnesota Autism Center). My Journey: At the tender age of two, my son Benjamin was unable to make eye contact. After two days of testing, he was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Although nearly two million children in America have autism, the vast population surprisingly does not know much about it. For the past 17 years, it has been my honor to be actively involved in raising awareness for the autism community in our state. My goal is to help transition individuals with autism into our community so we can ALL benefit! I have partnered with The Autism Society of America and the MAC School as a coach, mentor, and advocate. Together, through therapy, training, and community awareness we help to bridge the gap and integrate these individuals so we can ALL start to understand the puzzle of autism.
